I've been making my own cleaning solutions and laundry products for years. While the stores boast that a lot of products are more "natural" now, I still don't feel really good about using them. I want to clean my home with safe, non-toxic cleaners, and that includes my dish soap. That's why I prefer making my own cleaning products...at least I know exactly what's in them! This 3 Ingredient DIY Dish Soap is made with Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, which is the company that makes one of my absolute favorite cleaners, Castile soap. I typically use Castile soap in most of my cleaning recipes, but for my dish soap, I prefer the Sal Suds because it is more of a detergent than just a soap. It's concentrated, so you don't need a ton of it, and it's an amazing grease cutter! I also add in a little jojoba oil to help soften your hands. So, let's get to the homemade dish soap recipe, shall we?

Homemade Dish Soap Ingredients

  • ½ cup of distilled water
  • ½ cup of Sal Suds ( Purchase HERE )
  • 1 tablespoon of Jojoba Oil (optional for skin softening) ( Purchase HERE )
  • 1 tablespoon of Distilled Vinegar (optional for hard water ) ( Purchase HERE )

How to Make Your Own Dish Soap

  • Pour the ingredients into a dish soap dispenser ( Purchase HERE) or reuse an old dish soap bottle. I bought the dish soap dispenser in the photos from Homegoods for around seven dollars.
  • Shake well.
  • Use to wash dishes in your sink. This recipe is not for use in a dishwasher. Find my DIY Liquid Dishwasher Detergent HERE.

Because this dish soap recipe doesn't contain harsh chemicals, you may need to give it a shake before each use to help distribute the jojoba oil. If you prefer, you can absolutely leave the oil out of the recipe.
