Welcome to IGN's Walkthrough for Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. This page contains information on Chapter 5: The Sea Queen’s Curse, including tips on defeating enemies and chest locations.

5 - 1 The Shipwrights of Capstan

Head over the Crossover Bridge toward the objective. Continue southeast to reach Capstan-upon-Hull. Go speak with Mr. Wright ahead to continue.

After the conversation, exit to the world map. Go left through the bushes and follow the coast heading west. Then, follow the beach all the way to the south to reach the Briney Shrine at the southern tip. Interact with the shrine itself. Then, the Jelly Queen will reveal herself.

For the majority of the fight, watch for four main attacks. The first is a simple swipe in front of the monster. Spend most of the time dodging this attack before swinging around the side of the beast to attack it. While near the monster, watch for an AOE attack where it slaps the ground beside it. If far away from the beast, be careful to not get hit by the laser beam or its sudden dash ability. Toward the end of the fight, watch for its AOE laser ability. Continue to dodge during this time. Finally, when the beast begins to charge, try and get a good number of heavy magical attacks in to stun it and prevent an explosion.

Defeat the Jelly Queen to receive some anti-freeze bone mail. When ready, travel back to Capstan-upon-Hull. The shipwrights say they can build a boat if they have the right wood. Go back to Evermore to speak with Niall. He explains where to find the hardwood and gives Evan a bottle of thornaway spray. After this conversation, travel to the Forest of Niall. Head forward to reach a ramp leading up to the right. Eventually, the puffburrs will be in sight. Interact with them to spray the thornaway. Continue ahead up the ramp and follow the branching path to the right to face a group of enemies. After the battle, look to the right to find a ramp leading to a chest with some three-leafed soreaway inside. Next, head back down and use the Quicken Growth spell on the toadstools here. Climb this newfound path and follow the long winding path ahead.

At the fork in the path, go right and hug the right path to eventually find a chest further off to the right. Open it to acquire a copy of Songbook No. 14. Continue following this path up, passing a Thogg on the right to reach a group of enemies guarding a higgledy stone. This stone requests a dark prism. Continue down until turning off to the left. At the end of this path, there is a wizardly twinkly tunic. Head back up and follow the path down to reach the Hard Woods.

From here, go down to the south and follow the path leading west to reach a group of enemies. Defeat them before taking the path to the southwest up to find a chest with a deadly tower toppler inside.

Back at the Hard Woods, look to the east to find some toadstools. Use the Quicken Growth spell to reach the path above. Continue forward to meet Zagg.

During this fight, watch for its two main attacks: a 3-hit combo attack when close and a leaping smash ability when far away. Dodge these attacks before getting in close to score some hits. Then, when Zagg reaches 3/4 health, it will jump up on the peaks behind the arena and send lightning to the ground near it. Avoid this before it belly flops on to the ground. Then, continue to lay on the damage. After this, Zagg will have two new abilities. First, when it winds up its arm it will send out a fire projectile with a punch. Then, when it reaches 1/2 health it will send out a lightning AOE attack across the whole arena. Continue to dodge this the whole time. Then, when it reaches 1/4 health it will do the same attack from the mountains. Continue to whittle down its health to end the battle.

After the fight, head back to Capstan-upon-Hull to speak with Ketch. After this, Ketch will become a citizen of Evermore.

5 - 2 An Audience with the Queen

Now, the party has access to a boat! Use this to explore previously inaccessible areas.

When ready, go to Hydropolis. After the cutscene, head into town. After speaking with the guard, go to the three marked locations on the map to speak with the populace. After questioning all the citizens, head to the equipment shop to get the coral ring. However, the shopkeeper requires three quests to be completed for him. This initiates Quest 041: Ringing Around. Deliver all three packages to the citizens and return to Xiphos to receive an adore ring.

After the cutscene, head forward to speak with the Queen.

5 - 3 What Lurks in the Labyrinth

In order to get her signature on the treaty, Evan must slay the sea monster near Hydropolis. Leander joins the party to help accomplish this feat. Go speak with the Hydroportal Attendant to return to Kardia Square. Go back to port and speak with the sailor to board the boat. Go east to find Leucippes’ Labyrinth.

After landing, Evan must enter the skirmish: Labor of the Labyrinth. After the battle, continue forward to reach the Seat of the Sea Beast. Here, Evan and the gang must face Cetus.

This fight is much different than previous battles. This monster spends much of its time underground. When it does this, keep an eye on the shifting ground. This is where the monster will surge out from under the earth. When its head is exposed, get in close to deal some heavy damage. During this time, the serpent can attack with its head or with its tail. Be ready to dodge these attacks when necessary. Sometimes the monster may pop up its smaller head. Take advantage of this opportunity to stun the creature and deal even more damage. However, don't take too long. Soon, Cetus will charge up from the ground if the head isn't stunned. Toward the end of the fight, several red anemones will fill the arena. Stay far away from these to avoid taking explosive damage.

Defeat the beast to obtain the Ocean’s Aether. Before leaving, be sure to pick up the soakproof enchanted armor dropped by Cetus. Return to Hydropolis to continue.

5 - 4 The Lady Vanishes

Head to the boat to set sail for the Abyss. Once inside, head toward the waypoint. Before heading down, look up to the left to find a chest with 5 silver nuggets inside. Now, continue down the ramp on the right. Destroy the coral to pick up its pieces. Reach the puffer whelk and Evan will learn the Water Slide spell. Cast it onto the shell. Then, jump onto the spout to reach the next level.

Fight through the group of enemies ahead to find another shell on the left. This will lead back up to where the previous area. Fight through the next group of enemies to find the shell leading forward. Follow the path up to the left and use the shell to reach the other side. Swing around to the right to find a chest with a damp fluttery baton inside. Drop back down and backtrack to reach the previous level. Go right this time to face a group of enemies. Follow the path behind them to find a chest with an all-be-gone inside. Then, back where the enemies were, use the shell to reach the lower level.

Hug the left wall and descend the ramp to face a group of enemies. Look at the end of this area to find a shell leading back up. Drop down to the right to find a chest with a pair of waterproof sea breeze sandals inside. Drop down one more level to find a higgledy stone. Offer it a Bright Button and Haddock the Fishy will join the party.

Drop back down and continue forward. Use the first shell on the right to reach a new level. Defeat the enemies ahead before spotting a chest behind a pillar with a strong sixth censer inside. Use the shell ahead to reach the previous level. Head back down and use the shell just past the previous one to go down another level. From here, drop down a level and head right. Defeat the enemies ahead before following the path ahead to the left to find a chest holding 1700 guilders.

Backtrack to the last shell. This time, go left. Eventually, there is another chest off to the left with a greatsword inside. Then, head back to the shell leading across. Defeat the enemies ahead before heading up the ramp and going right. Use the far shell to cross the gap. Fight through the enemies ahead and use the next shell. This will access an area with a chest on the right holding a punisher’s ring.

Head back to the previous shells and go down this time. Hug the right side and follow the ramp up to the shell here. Take that to the next level down. From here, follow the path to the right as it drops down. Look ahead to find a chest across a gap. It's possible to reach this with a well-timed jump. Open the chest here to find some anti-nixing bone mail. Back on the other side, hug the right wall to reach a lower level with a chest at the end containing 5 pieces of jade coral. Continue to the right to reach the shell marked by the waypoint. From here, head back up on the shell to the previous level. This time, take the ramp to the left. Eventually, there is another shell. Ride this down to the next level. Look to the left to find a chest behind some coral containing a copy of Songbook No. 15. Defeat the group of enemies further left to find another shell past them. Take this up to reach another chest, this one holding some four-leafed soreaway. Look behind here to find another higgledy stone. It requests a Bighorn Shell. Give this gift for Clambunctious the Calm to join the party.

From here, head back down to the lowest level. Go right all the way to the edge to find a chest with an angel’s tear in it. Then, feel free to save at the waystone before taking the final shell down to the last level.

Here, Evan will face a Level 42 Brineskimmer.

At the beginning of this fight, get up on the side of the kingmaker. Focus all attacks on the yellow orbs on its arms. Break both of these to stun the beast. Then, focus all heavy attacks on its head.

This will initiate the next phase of the fight. Brineskimmer will fly around the arena indefinitely. Attack all the nearby ice spires to round up enough higgledies. Once a ring glows around them, they can be used as a gun. Aim at Brineskimmer to break its shield. Then, focus the fire on the glowing orbs to bring the beast back down to the ground. Then, repeat the phases until the kingmaker is tamed.

5 - 5 Hydropolis Joins the Union

After the cutscene, Leander will join the party permanently. Speak with Nerea to form a union.
