This baked teriyaki salmon recipe is super easy to make in 15 minutes of cooking time. If you like to meal prep for the coming week, this salmon recipe is a great option too because baked salmon keeps really well in the refrigerator. How to make salmon Teriyaki in the oven
The method to make baked salmon Teriyaki is very simple: you just prepare the sauce with all the ingredients, then pour it over the salmon fillets in the baking dish. Then you bake the salmon fillets in the oven at 400ºF (200ºC) for 12-15 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onion, and you’re ready to serve this delicious homemade baked Teriyaki salmon!

How long to bake salmon Teriyaki
Baking times for Teriyaki salmon will vary based on the type of salmon you are using:
- Farmed-raised salmon fillets like “Atlantic Salmon” or farmed King Salmon tend to have a higher fat content so the fillets can be baked in the oven for a longer period of time without drying out. Farmed salmon also comes thicker so you can bake for longer.
- Wild-caught salmon like Coho Salmon and Sockeye, tend to be thinner and leaner. We found that wild-caught salmon can be easily overcooked and needs to be baked with an eye on it. Count around 12 minutes instead of 15.
You’ll know your Teriyaki salmon is done when you are able to poke the center with a knife or a toothpick and it starts to flake.

Tips for the baked Teriyaki Salmon recipe
- You can make the Teriyaki sauce gluten-free by using coconut amino or tamari instead of soy sauce.
- You can leave the skin on the salmon fillets, since it is baked, the flesh will be tender enough so that the flesh portion will flake right off of the skin.
- You can bake the salmon as a whole fillet, then cut it before serving. Or cut the individual salmon portions, as we did in the pictures.
How long to keep the teriyaki salmon leftovers?
You can keep the baked teriyaki salmon leftovers in an airtight container for 4 or 5 days in your refrigerator, making it perfect for meal prepping.
